Inspired by our shared interest in all things botanical, our mission is to provide greater access to locally grown flowers along Colorado’s Front Range, to showcase unique varieties that reflect the beauty and diversity found throughout our local landscapes, and to apply growing techniques that are well suited to our farm’s region and scale. Our specialty blooms are available April through October at wholesale prices to florists. Our fresh bouquets are available on Saturdays May through October at the Boulder Farmers Market in Boulder, Colorado. Our in-house floral design studio provides seasonally-inspired arrangements for a limited number of weddings and events each year. For more information on how to purchase our flowers, select an option from our Services tab.
We are a private, working farm. No walk-in sales or farm tours please. Thanks for understanding.
Our people
Dustin Saunders, co-owner
Dustin manages farm operations at Little Hollow. He does it all with care and attention, from farm planning, building our infrastructure, starting seeds, growing, harvesting, sales, and just about anything else you can think of. Originally from Steamboat Springs, Colorado he spent nearly a decade traveling, working and rock climbing before returning to his home state to open a small business doing what he loves: growing and tending flowers.
Kate Davenport, co-owner
Kate designs for a landscape architecture firm by day specializing in urban, campus and botanical garden projects. She assists Little Hollow with farm planning, plant selection and floral design. She loves studying plant communities and discovering new (to her) varieties to inspire the long-term vision for the farm.
Our values
regional identity
We are endlessly captivated by the beauty and diversity found in landscapes throughout the West, and our offerings will continue to expand in coming years to reflect the sense of place we find so unique to our region. Inspired by and mindful of our Colorado climate and plant communities, we are passionate about bringing more resilient, water-wise plant selections into the cut flower market. While we do offer many of the most classic and sought-after cut flower varieties, we are excited to trial and establish a greater selection of perennials and woody shrubs that are specifically well-adapted to our region.
ENVIRONMENTAL standards
We know that farming does not always tread lightly on the land, and our goal is to always ask how we can farm smarter. We grow our flowers organically, and we practice companion planting and integrated pest management. We implement water-wise irrigation techniques to reduce our water use, and we compost materials on site for re-use to amend our soils. We invest in the health of our soils through beneficial nutrients, cover cropping, and bed rotation. We actively limit our use of plastics and non-recyclable waste by starting seeds in soil blocks, switching to biodegradable netting, and eliminating packaging (or using compostable paper) for our products.
local distribution
We grow our flowers to supply customers within a 100 mile radius. We were surprised to learn that nearly 80 percent of fresh flowers sold in the United States and Canada are not grown in North America. As part of a broader network of farms located along Colorado’s Front Range, we hope to collectively reduce our region’s reliance on flowers that are grown and shipped overseas. And the good news is: local flowers are generally fresher, smell better, and last longer!
